At 4,802 feet, Mount Moosilauke is the tenth highest mountain in the state, and the south-western most of the White Mountains “4000 footers”. Its name is an amalgam of two Native American words, “moosi”, meaning bald, and “auke” meaning place, referring to its instantly recognizable table-like ridge of bare rock just below the summit. With a 360° panorama, ranging from the Adirondacks in the west to the Presidentials in the east, many feel Mount Moosilauke offers the finest views in the White Mountains.
