Pure Milk Chocolate

In 1825 Samuel Willey and his family moved to a small house in the heart of Crawford Notch intending to expand it and operate it as an Inn. On the night of August 28, 1826, after a devastating drought, torrential rains raised the Saco River 20 feet overnight, and the family fled the house for higher ground. When friends arrived in the following days, they found the valley buried under a slide of earth and debris. The family was lost but the house was untouched. The Inn operated until 1898, catering to tourists and curiosity seekers who had heard of the Willeys’ tragic fate.
